This training session is designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). Attendees will learn the purpose and significance of NIBRS in law enforcement data reporting, gain insights into the types of crimes counted within the system, and understand the categorization and reporting process for each crime. The training will cover guidelines for writing, reviewing, and approving police reports in accordance with NIBRS standards, including the quantity of incident reports to be generated. Additionally, participants will delve into the specific data elements required for NIBRS-compliant reports and receive practical guidance on crafting reports that meet the system’s standards. By the end of this session, attendees will be well-equipped to navigate NIBRS intricacies, apply crime definitions effectively, and contribute proficiently to the writing and review process of police reports within the NIBRS framework.
