Who Should Attend: 

Records Personnel and those responsible for reviewing, redacting and releasing law enforcement records.

In this training session, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the application of Florida Chapter 119 to law enforcement records. The seminar will cover essential topics such as an overview of Florida’s Sunshine Law, distinctions between exempt and confidential records, and the nuances of criminal investigative and intelligence information. Participants will learn best practices for handling victim and witness information, redacting law enforcement reports through hands-on exercises, and properly releasing training and personnel file information. Additionally, the course will clarify the differences between discovery and public records requests, ensuring that law enforcement agencies comply with legal standards while maintaining transparency and protecting sensitive information.
