Join us for an onsite training event in Wisconsin designed to help law enforcement professionals navigate the complexities of public records management and disclosure, especially after critical incidents.

MORNING SESSION: RELEASING/REDCATING LAW ENFORCEMENT RECORDS – WI

Overview of Wisconsin Public Records Law (Wis. Stat. §19.31-19.39) and Marsy’ s law with a focus on actually redacting different types of law enforcement reports in a group setting. Different types of law enforcement reports will be considered, such as:

  • Incident or offense reports
  • Investigative reports
  • Intelligence reports and information

AFTERNOON SESSION: MANAGING RECORDS REQUESTS AFTER CRITICAL INCIDENTS

This course provides practical guidance for managing high-volume requests for sensitive records during and after an incident. Participants will learn when to consider the pre-emptive release of records, how to navigate high-volume public records requests, coordinate with command staff and investigators, and legal and policy considerations when releasing information under time sensitive and high-profile circumstances. The course also covers best practices for communication, documentation, and maintaining transparency while protecting the integrity of ongoing investigations. By the end of the course, attendees will be better prepared to respond efficiently and confidently to public and media requests during critical events.
