Who should attend? Public records/PIA officers, Records Managers, and records or other personnel responsible for releasing law enforcement records of all types.

Join PRI and DFW Airport DPS for a comprehensive seminar on Texas public records. Master the legal and practical aspects of responding to today’s most complex law enforcement public records requests. Through state-specific instruction, real-world scenarios, and hands-on exercises, you’ll learn to review, redact, and release law enforcement reports, body-worn camera footage, digital surveillance records, and critical incident information while protecting sensitive information, complying with the law, and promoting transparency
 
Day 1 starts with practical guidance on responding to public records requests involving law enforcement reports and body-worn camera (BWC) video. Participants will learn statutory requirements, disclosure exemptions, privacy protections, and best practices for identifying and redacting confidential information in incident, investigative, intelligence, and BWC records. Through real-world examples and hands-on exercises, attendees will gain the knowledge and confidence to process public records requests accurately, consistently, and in compliance with state law while balancing transparency with the protection of sensitive information.
 
On Day 2, Participants will learn legal requirements and best practices for handling First Amendment auditors, requests involving digital surveillance technologies such as drones, ALPRs, and other media, and records requests arising from critical incidents. The course emphasizes protecting sensitive law enforcement information, balancing transparency with operational security, and effectively reviewing, redacting, and releasing records while coordinating with investigators, command staff, and the public under high-profile and time-sensitive circumstances.
