MORNING SESSION: SEALING & EXPUNGING RECORDS
This session provides an in-depth understanding of the laws surrounding sealing and expunging records, along with practical guidance for processing court orders effectively.
KEY TOPICS:
• Overview of state laws and court order processing
• Differences between sealed and expunged records
• Determining access rights to sealed and expunged records
AFTERNOON SESSION: RELEASING & REDACTING RECORDS
This session equips attendees with the skills to identify and redact sensitive information within police reports, audio, video, juvenile, and traffic records. Learn to navigate state regulations and apply exemptions beyond case closure effectively.
KEY TOPICS:
• Differentiating between exempt and confidential records
• Balancing privacy rights with public interest
• Handling fees and exemptions for investigative and intelligence information
• Redacting employee identifying information, 911 call data, arrest records, traffic accident reports, and law enforcement recordings (dashcam and body-worn camera videos)
